Stalker will be playable on both Ati and Nvidia cards. Please don't start new threads asking if Stalker will play on your Ati videocard.

There certainly is a good question about which one to buy. You should buy the one that best fits your needs and requirements.

Personally, I'm quite sick of the politics and outright lazy programming that I've seen with some recent video games (Battlefield Vietnam comes to mind).

I'm especially peeved with both ATi and nVidia who instead of making their cards better and cheaper instead are signing exclusive deals to get their logo on gameboxes and pressure developers into making games not run as well/at all on competing hardware.

Let's hear it for cheaper and better and no sleazy under-the-table exclusivity at the expense of end-users.

I sincerely hope this wont be an issue with S.T.A.L.K.E.R although I have my worries since about every game running that nVidia logo has not run well on my main box as on my secondary box which is technically inferior other than it's running a 5600 Ultra.

The "the way it's meant to be played logo" doesn't say that you'll get dracking performance on your nVidia card.It means that you won't get graphical glitches on GeForce, guarnteed.Ati will work, but its not designed on an ati chipset.the only "nvidia" game that didnt work on ati was Rallisport. My Friend had an 8500 Ati and his screen was yyellowish

Well ATI and Nvidia both supports DX9 and OpenGL. It is not about the hardware folks. Its about the software.

The fight will go on ATI is good, Nvidia is good its a personal pref. As far as supporting current and up coming games, if it supports DX9 it will run your game. Now depending on how much $ you want to spend on a Video Card anything with DX8 support will run this, but a DX9 card will run it even better (shadows, video performance, high resolutions).

I got 9800 PRO (btw had a Nvidia 5900 Card, traded it in on the ATI) and I wont upgrade for atleast the next 18 months. Also running a game at Med to High specs is good enought for Multi play, Very High for Single play. The more stuff that goes on on-screen the more possibilities for lag. Also remember that all those Tech talk on the Video Card's box about how many trillion colors and stuff, you have to remember most of those settings are not even noticable by the human eye.

So to come to a conclusion. 800X and 6800 Cards will run this game the same, or if you cant afford a Ferrari go for a 5900 GForce or ATI 9800 PRO card, both excellent cards and will run this game just as smooth

Nvidia only sponsers those developers Both ATI amd Nvid uses DirectX (Microsoft), so there is no way in forcing it to use a certain card "make"

Will Stalker take advantage of the 256mb ram on some cards? I want to know which one I should buy, a Radeon 9800 128mb or a 9800 256mb. I'll be getting one really soon an just want to ask around because I know a lot of games don't take advantage of the extra 128. Stalker looks like it will though.
