The Music You Listen to

Okay, so this here thread is meant to be a place for discussion about music, styles, bands, songs, what you're listening/into right now, and any other music-related stuff you might think of. Like songs/bands you'd lke to recommend to others.

So, I'll start off... My musical tastes, although all-encompassing, focus on the heavy metal and classical music. In heavy metal, much black metal and power metal. In classical, well, the majestic and dark stuff.

To name some composers/bands, here's a very short list: Immortal, Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth, Dark Funeral, Norther, Children of Bodom (From the death/black metal genres); Manowar, Avantasia (Mostly Metal Opera Pts. I & II), Helloween, Dragonforce, Hammerfall, Rhapsody (From the power metal genre), Beethoven, Vivaldi, Wagner, Orff, Gorecki, Grieg (Some of my most favourite classical composers). To name some other artists outside of these genres, well, here goes: Hawkwind, Danzig, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Blood Axis, Thin Lizzy, Ten Years After, Blackfoot, T-Rex, Vangelis, Mötley Crùe, Johnny Cash, Old Motown. Black Sabbath, last but by far not the least.

Right now, I'm listening to Stalker OST - End Credits.

Here's a few linkys to some of the music I like and I think are worth checking out:
Blackfoot - Good Morning

Ten Years After - I'd Like to Change the World
[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzrUqAtUcpU[/link]
Aleksi Laiho and Roope Latvala (Children of Bodom) play Vivaldi's Summer. ATTENTION!!! This is something EVERYBODY should watch and listen to, this is very very very beautiful!!!

Finnish metal rules. Yay us!

So, I'd like to see similar posts by other users too, not necessarily this lengthy, but maybe the song you're listening to right now, and maybe some links to stuff you'd like other's to find out too.

EDIT: I also play the six-string myself, and am trying to do vocals as well, so I'd be more than willing to discuss that side of music too. And I do compose pieces as well, albeit rather rarely. Might do it more if I was in a band... Seems all my musician friends have their hands full of "real" jobs and relationships/whatever... Shame. And quite understandable, we're not really kids anymore...

Checked it, nice thread. ^^

I hope we can still have this thread too, is that ok? For stuff releated purely to music? I'd like that very much... 'Thou, naturally, if no one will post, you're free to lock and throw this away... Just there (In that other thread you gave the linky to) seemed to be not overtly much discussion on music...

But I was hoping to get to know one side more of some users, for me personally, music is propably the second most important thing in life, after the pure necessaties of eating, sleeping, and breathing... The most important thing to me in life is... Ahem, this is a bit embarrassing... Relationship/love. I'll admit it, damn it, I'm a hopeless loverboy/romantic. Still. It isn't easy keeping the flame and hope alive in this world we live in and with the lifes we're having, but still hanging there... And not yet on a rope.

Anyways, OnTopic: Right now: Aerosmith - Dream On

Sure.

Well, I grew up on hard stuff like the following:

- Sepultura
- Biohazard
- Slayer
- Motorhead
- Napalm Death
- Black Sabbath
- Pantera
- Machine Head

Some of these bands may not be popular anymore, but hey, these were the 90's.

Right now I moved on to more complex music, mainly 70's prog rock:

- Emerson, Lake & Palmer (my favourites)
- Pink Floyd
- Genesis (only the stuff from the 70's)
- Amon Duul II
- King Crimson

Also, I like to listen to some classic rock:

- Wishbone Ash
- Creedence Clearwater Revival
- Crosby, Stills & Nash
- Jefferson Airplane

That would be it.

Eww, techno is not my cup of tea at all.

When it comes to music, I'm a conservatist. I only listen to music created with real instruments.

Oh, and I also like some classic music from time to time.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I rarely choose techno myself too, but Winamp presented it to me, and I decided to listen to the whole song...

Right now: Eagles - Learn to be still

Well, the only thing I listen to now is the bullshit chatter of my workmates...

When driving around in my car, I usually play some classic 70's rock like Boston, Chicago, The Eagles, Hawkwind, CCR...
Can't listen to prog rock while driving. Way too complicated.
