Last song on the album:

Jethro Tull: Aqualung ❖ Wind-Up ( Track 11 )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqqfOcTsReI

When I was young
And they packed me off to school
And they taught me how not to play the game
I didn't mind
If they groomed me for success
Or if they said that I was just a fool

So, I left there in the morning
With their God tucked underneath my arm
Their half-assed smiles and the book of rules

And I asked this God a question
And by way of firm reply
He said, "I'm not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays."

So told my old headmaster
And to anyone who cares,
"Before I'm through I'd like to say my prayers."

I don't believe you:
You had the whole damn thing all wrong
He's not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays

Well, you can excommunicate me
On my way to Sunday school
And have all the bishops harmonize these lines

How'd you dare tell me
That I'm my Father's son
When that was just an accident of birth

I'd rather look around me
Compose a better song
'Cause that's the honest measure of my worth

In your pomp and all your glory
You're a poorer man than me
As you lick the boots of death born out of fear

When I was young
And they packed me off to school
And they taught me how not to play the game
I didn't mind
If they groomed me for success
Or if they said that I was just a fool

I left there in the morning
With God under my arm
Their half-assed smiles and the book of rules

Well, you can excommunicate me
On my way to Sunday school
Have all the bishops harmonize these lines

When I was young
And they packed me off to school
And they taught me how not to play the game
I didn't mind
If they groomed me for success
Or if they said that I was just a fool

So, I told my old headmaster
And to anyone who cares,
"Before I'm through I'd like to say my prayers."

Well, you can excommunicate me
On my way to Sunday school
And have all the bishops harmonize these lines

Def Leppard ❖ Pyromania

Pyromania is the third studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released on 20 January 1983. The first album to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced founding member Pete Willis, Pyromania was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The album was a shift away from the band's heavy metal roots towards more radio-friendly glam rock and hard rock, finding massive mainstream success. Pyromania charted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, No. 4 on the Canadian RPM Album chart and No. 18 on the UK Albums Chart selling over ten million copies in the US, thus being certified diamond by the RIAA.

With its melodic hooks and heavy MTV exposure, Pyromania became a massive success, and was a major catalyst for the 1980s melodic hard rock movement. The album sold six million copies in the US in its original release (about 100,000 copies per week for much of the year). It has since sold over ten million there and been certified diamond. In 1989, it was re-released by audio fidelity company Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs as part of their Ultradisc series.

"Photograph", "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'" became top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, with the first two reaching the top 20. "Photograph" (6 weeks) and "Rock of Ages" (1 week) both topped the Billboard Top Rock Tracks while "Foolin'" and "Too Late for Love" made the Top 10. "Comin' Under Fire", "Billy's Got a Gun" and "Action! Not Words" made the top 40 of the Top Rock Tracks chart.

In Canada, "Rock of Ages" charted highest at No. 24, while "Photograph" and "Foolin'" reached 32 and 39, respectively. The hard rock nature of the songs resulted in some Top 40 radio stations choosing to play only one or two of the singles, rather than all three. At CHUM-AM in Toronto, one of Canada's largest audience Top 40 stations at the time, "Rock of Ages" never reached its Top 30 countdown; whereas down the highway in Hamilton, at the CKOC-AM Top 40 radio station, it peaked at no.2. It also topped the chart at many album-oriented rock stations such as Q107 in Toronto.

In 2004, the album was ranked No. 384 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2006, Q magazine placed the album at No. 35 in its list of "40 Best Albums of the '80s". In 2015 Rolling Stone ranked Pyromania at No. 17 among the 50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time, and in 2017, the same magazine listed the album at No. 52 on its list of the 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.

Def Leppard: Pyromania ❖ Rock! Rock! ( Till You Drop ) Track 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDJnYIqCIIY

Hold onto your hat, hold onto your heart
Ready, get set to tear this place apart
Don't need a ticket, only place in town
That'll take you up to heaven and never bring you down
Anything goes! Anything goes!

Women to the left, Women to the right
There to entertain and take you thru the night
So grab a little heat and come along with me
'Cause your mama don't mind what your mama don't see
Anything goes! Anything goes!

Rock! Rock! till you drop
Rock! Rock! never stop
Rock! Rock! till you drop
I say Rock! Rock! to the top

Ridin' into danger, laughin' all the way
Fast, free and easy, livin' for today
Gotta lip service, get it while you can
Hot, sweat 'n' nervous love on demand
Anything goes! Anything goes!

Rock! Rock! Give it to me
It's what I got goin' thru' me
Don't ever stop do it to me
Yeah, Rock! Rock! You really move me

Hold on, hold on, hold tight
We're gonna rock tonight
Too loud man, too loud

"Photograph" is a song performed by English hard rock band Def Leppard and produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. It is the lead single from the band's third studio album, Pyromania (1983). Their lead vocalist Joe Elliott has described the song as generally about "something you can't ever get your hands on". When released as a single it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart, where it stayed for six weeks, and No. 12 on the Pop Singles chart. In 2006 the song was used in promotional adverts for the DVD release of Blades of Glory. In 2009 it was named the 13th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1. It was also listed as the No. 17 greatest song of the past 25 years by VH1.

The 1993 live recording of the song in Sheffield, England appeared in the music video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock as part of a Def Leppard downloadable track pack, as did the 1993 live recording of "Rock of Ages". The song was also included in the track listing of the rhythm music video game Battle of the Bands. In 2008 they performed the song with country pop singer Taylor Swift on CMT Crossroads.

The studio recording of the song appears in the video game Grand Theft Auto V on the Los Santos Rock Radio station.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ5bS3_BCDs

Huh!
I'm outa luck, outa love
Gotta photograph, picture of
Passion killer, you're too much
You're the only one I wanna touch
I see your face every time I dream
On every page, every magazine
So wild so free so far from me
You're all I want, my fantasy

Oh, look what you've done to this rock 'n' roll clown
Oh Oh, look what you've done

Photograph - I don't want your
Photograph - I don't need your
Photograph - All I've got is a photograph
But it's not enough

I'd be your lover, if you were there
Put your hurt on me, if you dare
Such a woman, you got style
You make every man feel like a child
You got some kinda hold on me
You're all wrapped up in mystery
So wild so free so far from me
You're all I want, my fantasy

Oh, Look what you've done to this rock'n'roll clown
Oh Oh, Look what you've done

[Repeat chorus]

You've gone straight to my head.

"Too Late for Love" is a 1983 power ballad by British hard rock band Def Leppard from their multi-platinum album Pyromania. When released as a single, it reached #9 on the Mainstream Rock charts.

The music video, filmed in December 1983, was taken from a Christmas music special called Supersonic. According to the text commentary in the video Historia, the performance was filmed after hanging out with Elton John and Meat Loaf over some champagne. The video however featured an edited version of the song with many sections of the song taken out including the guitar section starting at 3:28 in the original and ending at 3:38. The total length of the edited version is 3:23 whilst the original is 4:30.

Somewhere in the distance I hear the bells ring
Darkness settles on the town as the children start to sing
And the lady 'cross the street she shuts out the night
A cast of thousands waiting as she turns out the light

But it's too late, too late, too late
Too late for love
Too late, too late, too late
Too late

London boys are gazing, girls go hand in hand
A pocket full of innocence, the entrance is grand
The queen of the dream stands before them all
She stretches out her hand as the curtain starts to fall

But it's too late, too late, too late
Too late for love
Too late, too late, it's too late
Too late

Standing by the trapdoor aware of me and you
The actor and the clown—they're waiting for their cue
And there's a lady over there. She's acting pretty cool
But when it comes to playing life she always plays the fool

But it's too late, too late, it's too late
Too late for love
Too late, it's too late, too late
Too late

It's a little too late…
Much too late
They say it's just too late

Late it's too late…

Too late, it's too late, too late
Too late for love
Too late, too late, too late
Too late

Lady Luck never smiles
So lend your love to me, awhile
Do with me what you will
Break the spell take your fill

On and on we rode the storm
The flame has died, the fire has gone
Oh, this empty bed is a night alone
I realized that long ago

Is anybody out there? Anybody there?
Does anybody wonder? Anybody care?

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
'Cause baby I'm not

F-f-f-foolin', ah f-f-foolin'
Not f-f-f-foolin', ah f-f-foolin'

Won't you stay with me awhile

Close your eyes don't run and hide
Easy love is no easy ride
Just wakin' up from what we had
Could stop good love from going bad

Is anybody out there? Anybody there?
Does anybody wonder? Anybody care?

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
'Cause baby I'm not

F-f-f-foolin', ah f-f-foolin'
Not f-f-f-foolin', ah f-f-foolin'

Oh, oh, oh oh!

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
'Cause baby I'm not

F-f-f-foolin', ah f-f-foolin'
Not f-f-f-foolin', ah f-f-foolin'

"Rock of Ages" is a song by Def Leppard from their 1983 album Pyromania. When released as a single in the United States, the song reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the Top Tracks rock chart.

It begins with a German-like nonsense phrase, "Gunter glieben glauten globen", introduced by Mutt Lange, who is of German descent. According to the official Def Leppard FAQ:

---QUOTATION---

"These four words that you hear at the start of "Rock of Ages", mean nothing, though the band sometimes jokingly claims it means "running through the forest silently". It's actually just German-sounding gibberish, said by producer Mutt Lange during one of the later takes of the song. Lange was a perfectionist and would often do dozens & dozens of takes, and after repeatedly beginning so many with the standard count, "One, two, three, four" he simply started saying nonsense words instead, the band liking this one so much that they included it on the album."

---END QUOTATION---

This phrase was later sampled in "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)" by the Offspring as well as "Call Me What You Like (If You Like Rock-N-Roll)" by Puffy AmiYumi. This was also sampled in a parody of the song, "Rape Rock of Ages", by shock rock band the Mentors.

According to the liner notes of the compilation release Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection, the band was at a recording studio when lead vocalist Joe Elliott stumbled upon a hymn book left by a member of a children's choir that had just used the studio. In the book, he saw the words "Rock of Ages", which prompted him to write the lyrics of the song.

As the song's melody begins, Elliott speaks the lines, "All right/I've got something to say/It's better to burn out/Than to fade away"; the second two lines are a reference to Neil Young's song "Hey Hey, My My (Out of the Blue)". Def Leppard's four-line version was quoted in the 1986 movie Highlander by the film's villain, the Kurgan. Young's line would later become immortalized in rock history when it was used in the suicide note of grunge pioneer Kurt Cobain.

During the guitar solo, several vocal phrases were backmasked. When played forward the phrases "F*** the Russians" and "Brezhnev's got herpes" can be heard.

Def Leppard: Pyromania ❖ Rock of Ages ( Track 7 )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHshP9vcnDY

Gunter glieben glauchen globen
All right
I got something to say
Yeah, it's better to burn out
Yeah, than fade away
All right
Ow Gonna start a fire
C'mon!
Rise up! gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke

Rock on! Rock on!

Drive me crazier, no serenade
No fire brigade, just Pyromania

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, yes I do
Long live rock'n'roll

Oh let's go, let's strike a light
We're gonna blow like dynamite
I don't care if it takes all night
Gonna set this town alight

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, Allright!
Long live rock'n'roll

Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock'n'rollin'

We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it and if you need it
Say yeah!

Heh heh heh heh
Now listen to me
I'm Burnin', Burnin', I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain't no cure
So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, You betcha
Long live rock'n'roll

[Repeat Chorus]

We're gonna burn this damn place down
Down to the ground

Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh

Your kind of woman gotta heart of stone
But watch it break when I get you alone
Take a chance, come lay down with me
Oh, I wanna make it

Slow and steady never lost the race
Don't stop runnin', I'm a fool for the chase
Play the game, surrender to me
Baby, I don't wanna fake it

Is it any wonder, you got me comin' under fire?
Comin' like thunder, you know you make me walk the wire

It's so easy to put on a show
Your body says yes but you won't let it go
But my passion it won't slip away

You got me, I'm cornered, my back to the wall
No bed of roses, ain't no bed at all
I'm walkin' the wire, I stumble and fall
I got the message but I ain't gonna crawl
