Smart Phones ( today's hand held computers )

Charcharo~

My carrier offers a ZTE Prelude™2 for $49. A ZTE Grand™ X for $149
( similar to yours? ) and a ZTE Grand™ X Max+ for $199 which with
it's 6 inch screen is what I would have chosen if I was on a budget.

Don~

HTC Diamond with Windows CE? Like from 2008 or there about?
I think the real PDA that GSC modeled theirs on uses Windows CE.
Is the main draw to that the Windows CE or just being on a budget?

Steelyglint, SetaKat & Lord_Santa~

I agree with the point you all are making about people glued to their
phones while walking or trying to drive and talk/text at the same time.

However actually using my phone to talk on is the activity I do the least.
I mainly use it for getting news, information, e-mails, and keeping up
with current events on many subjects through apps and newsfeeds.
My girlfriend prefers texting which is fine with me since it's less time
consuming and to the point without the idle chatter a phone call entails.
My upgrades to better smart phones in the last few years have been for
larger and easier to read screens in addition to improved cameras and
the ability to make videos. That's my point that smart phones today
are less about talking on the phone ( little change in technology on that )
and more about the many multiple purpose PCs our phones have become.

The main draw is Windows CE, which appeals to me as a programmer. It's a relic of that time, before Apple invented walled gardens and developer subscriptions, when Microsoft thought phone apps could just use the same code as desktop Windows applications, and that users could be trusted to install whatever they wanted.

Don~

I've been boycotting all Apple products for over 20 years due to their
proprietary properties or the "walled garden" nature as you so describe.
I've got a Windows PC but a Chromebook laptop, Android tablet & phone.

I have a Windows PC, notebook, and phone (not to be confused with Windows Phone).

Though my work is mostly Linux.

Had a note2 for the past 2 years and it's a great phablet. I use it for browsing, gaming, and pretty much everything. Although abit too bulky, it's very good for reading and gaming so I'm happy. I'll most likely get a Note 5 when one hits the stores.

Yes. It's a great phone. Don't need to upgrade or anything, but I am pretty curious about the new ultra hd note 5 though. It'll have very fast ram and a 64 bit cpu as well.
