PC upgrading

Hello, I am trying to pick a new processor on amazon for my pc. I currently have a 2.7ghz Athlon 2 x2 with 1mb cache. I can't figure out how to find out which one will fit my comps motherboard.

It is a Hewlett Packard pc6300uk

The HP site is bloomin useless. The only info it gives is that I can't go over 4gb ram or more than a phenom 2 x4. That is what I want a phenom 2 x4 but how do I work out which will fit my motherboard?

I remember someone showing me a program where you punch in parts to get what power supply it recommends. Is there a similar program for doing this anywhere? cheers.

Yep that was me, So that was you who answered then? Thankyou it helped a lot and I have now ordered the following from Amazon using the list that you linked me to

'AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz 8MB Cache Quad Core

I'm hoping that will make a big difference to how stalker runs, Currently I get a lot of stutter at times. When I'm recording with Fraps I get a big drop in fps often into teens or lower at bases. Plus I am hoping to improve how long certain tasks take for modding. So thanks again.

Budget cards.

Hello, Has anyone got or used this card.

http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/HD77702GD5/

Currently I have a HD6770 which I got to replace a 5770 only to find out they were identical inside.
This uses the newer architecture from AMD and seems to be the cheapest Dual fan 2gb card available. It is pushing my budget but sounds like it is worth going for. Any thoughts or alternate suggestions (especially cheaper ones) would be great.
It is for use with
Phenom 2 x4 3.00ghz 8mbcache
4gb ddr3 (sadly the motherboards max)
700w psu (budget model)

I usually look at newegg.com for reviews. Theres only 20 reviews so its not a popular card. Average review 4/5.

Looking at newegg reviews is a bad idea. Many of the certified reviewers go there when their product is DOA, otherwise they usually don't know what they're talking about. For GPU reviews most mainstream sites are good, such as hardwarecanucks (might be the best), anandtech, techpowerup, guru3D, etc.

Tom's Hardware has a chart listing the cards in order best at the top, allowing you to compare AMD/ATi and Nvidia.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

might give you an idea how much better a card is compared to your current one.
a UK magazine Micro Mart had a good graphics card round up last week, listing most of the current gaming cards, testing them , and working out an FPS per £ value (issue 1224)
