Can someone please shed some light here, cause I don't remember what exactly happened to s2. iirc, gsc announced s2 a few years ago, even asked fans for suggestions for missions (I submitted a few) which made me think everything was going according to the plan. Then, all of a sudden the whole thing collapsed and we were put in the dark.

Production was going well, but Sergey exited out. Probably thought it wasn't going in the right direction. CoP failed to really impress and S2 would've been a similar type of game. And then the piracy in the east and hit and miss western audience.

Maybe GSC should partner up with Ubisoft and release Far Cry type open world games with mods and addons (with XRay type graphics though). Console market would really help Stalker survive the piracy hit of the PC version. The thing is, you can really forget about Alife then, but maybe, who knows? Still better than being completely dead and forgotten.

GSC and Ubi!? This is for quadruple facepalm!

You can't make really good game in one year, aka CS/CoP.

And piracy is a myth.
Dragon Age: Inquisition isn't cracked, yet sales for this game are average - 1mil. in the first week on 5 platforms.
Why don't we see big increase in this case! The game is casualized, hyped, EA is behind it, etc.
Compare this to Skyrims 7mil. copies in the first week! And Skyrim is cracked from the first day.

Other examples of uncrackable popular games are FIFA 15 or Lords of the Fallen with just average sales. Especially FIFA!

being a developer of a FIFA game must feel good. Carry over 99% content and update the team's players table to their current format. Done!

Dragon Age Inquisition was cracked by 3DM yesterday (Chinese Group). Patch and everything. Denuvo is FINISHED just like any other copy protection. Its a waste of money and resources, plus you might end up screwing up performance of the game with it and it limits legit players while pirates can run their game better. Plus it ends up usually requiring to connect to internet while playing singleplayer game (terrible design, Valve specifically made Steam work Offline because of this).

It took 3 months for Securom 2
It took 1 month for Denuvo

PS You should always support the devs you want to succeed and buy their products. Its they best way to make sure they stay in business.

Anything is crackable over time. Fifa, Dragon age both got raped by hackers in the end. No need to worry about pirates, as long as the game stays uncrackable long enough for devs to make profit. Also why not Ubi and GSC? Ubi has experience with open world games, great graphics and has a big team. If they joined forces and split profit it would be a win win situation imo.

I've always loved Far Cry games. Especially FC1 and 3. Haven't played the last one but heard it's got an insane amount of content.

And buggiest of all Ghost Recon : Future Soldier, PC port was soo bad, that monster PC's had trouble running it and it took them 10-13 patches to finish the game, but, it still wasn't playable...

So no Ubi,, not sure who to recommend though...
