Ok I just read in a greek site that stalker 2 is going to have a DRM which will require from the player to be online all the time in order to play. Also part of the game (?) will be on a online server which will be sent to the player when playing.

1st going out on consoles and now this? pls tell me it is not true!!

So GSC hasn't made enough monies already? they will punish all the stalker with this DRM?? greedy - greedy people!!

I am sorry but I am shocked...I have bought all stalkers but ....stalker 2 is starting to remind me all these games I avoid!

Edit. ps. whatever you do, the game is eventually going to be cracked...so at the end of the day the pirated ver. will be without DRM leaving us legal owners of the game to be frustrated with it.

GSC already responded to that:

The idea of implementing DRM came in as a possible anti-piracy solution. You know the severe level of commercial piracy we have here in ex-USSR region. This said however, there is no firm decision to go for DRM with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 as of now. Be assured, we do realize how uncomfortable this solution is for the players, so we’ll continue looking for most effective, yet acceptable for all, way of protecting the game by the time of its release.

And, sheesh, all this panic two months after the interview.

Phew...honestly I hadn' t seen the interview before and I went to a sport site (!) today, in the morning, to check the news with my coffee...and it caught my attention...well I was panicked to say the least cause I had a really bad experience with DRM in the past.

Thanks for sorting this out.

If GSC think they can match up to Ubisoft's standard and create a DRM like this, their servers might be ready to bear the high number of accesses, or at least I think so.
Also, they may have considered that Ubi took quite a time developing DRMs for Assassins Creed and it eventually got cracked anyway, leaving pirates to play the game while they were struggling with hackers attacking their servers (which were brought down for a period)

He doesn't think anyone is worthy enough to make a sequel and he doesn't have the time or money to do it himself. I recall similar remarks long ago with him saying the current dev team was incapable of finishing the project.

If the sequel isn't made right, then don't make it at all. Still plenty hours of enjoyment in the original series.

Thanks for clearing that up Alundaio.

I must say I agree with him, I'd rather let it end here more then making a sequel that will probably ruin my view on STALKER...

I hope some day for S2 though

Without a big enough team, S2 is impossible to make right. CoP was just a mod and didn't require redoing everything from scratch. Sergey knows this and is probably trying to find the right people for the job, or just banking the money and driving his Ferrari on a German autobahn.
